Looking for an adventure-filled ski paradise with one of the most diverse and exciting arrays of ski runs in the Alps? A ski holiday to Saalbach is the answer.
The larger of the two Saalbach-Hinterglemm resorts, with 168 miles of slopes across Austria’s vast Ski-Circus (the second-largest ski area in Austria!), Saalbach is a haven for powder pros, families, beginners, and first-timers alike.
For groups of mates, the Ski-Circus' snow parks, endless freeride opportunities, and floodlit night skiing will keep everyone well entertained before the après-ski parties begin.
For family ski holidays with the piste pups, highly-rated ski schools, designated children’s areas, and ski kindergartens ensure little ones are always well looked after, whether they're learning the ropes or building up their piste-side confidence.

The most important thing to consider when skiing in Saalbach: Are you a glühwein kind of person, or are you more of a steins and Jäger bomb fan?
If the country’s signature hot mulled wine calls your name, then a ski holiday in December or January is a must. Christmas transforms the resort into a winter wonderland, with festive markets, twinkling lights, and some of the best snow of the season. As for the New Year, expect a spectacular ski show, torchlight slope procession, and a sparkling fireworks display-Prost!
If you prefer clinking beer glasses and starting the Jäger train in the afternoon on a sun-drenched terrace, March and April offer great deals outside of February, with longer days and warmer weather. And with slopes reaching up to 2,100m, Saalbach’s powder stays excellent right through to Easter.
Things to do in Saalbach
One of the delights of skiing in Austria is retreating to a traditional, cosy mountain hut for lunches, dinners, and after-slope beers, of which Saalbach-Hinterglemm offers over 60. Enjoy warm dishes like curried sausage and Kasnock’n, a kind of cheesy, pasta-like dumpling, and definitely leave space for some legendary Kaiserschmarrn pancakes.
Whennot in your ski boots, try descending multiple toboggan tracks, go ice skating in town, listen to the clip-clop of hooves on a horse-drawn carriage ride, or indulge in Austria’s other great tradition, the sauna and spas! And... relax.
